The foundation is located in the city of Bangalore in the south Indian state of Karnataka.  The campus is located some 25 kms from the main city near Bommasandra Industrial Area.

The foundation is mainly into providing technical support and advisory services on User feedback led social accountability tools such as Citizen Report Card, Community Score Card etc, to variety of clients and partners ranging from federal and state governments in India and abroad to national and international development and donor agencies.  It also provides training workshops on Social Accountability Tools.

Social accountability is an approach towards building accountability that relies on civic engagement, i.e. in which it is ordinary citizens and/or civil society organizations who participate directly or indirectly in exacting accountability (The World Bank).

There are more than 10 social accountability tools such as Participatory Budgeting, Public Expenditure Tracking System, Citizen Report Card, Community Score Card, Social Audit, Citizen Charter etc. These tools are methods used to measure the public service performance across various services.  

 

5. What is a Citizen Report Card?

A Citizen Report Card is a user feedback led social accountability tool where systematic feedback is generated from the users of a public service across various process and performance indicators of service provision such as access, usage, reliability, responsiveness, corruption and satisfaction.
